No Carvana in Southwick: Developers withdraw application for used car processing facility

SOUTHWICK, Mass. (WWLP) – Contractors have requested to withdraw their special permit application for a large Carvana car processing facility in Southwick. In a letter, developers informed the Southwick Planning Board of their request to withdraw without prejudice from the proposed Carvana car processing facility late Tuesday afternoon, hours before a scheduled public meeting where residents were expected to oppose the project.  Read more here...

The Carvana car processing facility will no longer push through with its 200,000 square-foot vehicle processing warehouse. Thanks to Save Southwick, a grassroot group that opposed the project. The plan was originally to convert the farmland into a processing facility. But with the opposition from the community, this was abandoned. Save Southwick still continues to promote sustainable development while retaining the New England character of the city. The group plans to provide more information on how it will seek to keep up with future development without damaging the beauty and historical heritage of the community. This may be a difficult plan but with strong political will and public support, there will be a way to do it.
